Paris Internationale, 12th Edition: ASMA

The presentation of works at Paris Internationale joins three different bodies of work that explore Asma's interest in the formal intersections between sculptural methodologies and painterly developments of image and surface. In all series the mixture of collage, graphic elements and gestural doodles paces an interrelation between materiality, symbolism and abstraction.

Interested in the construction of the aura of a painting the different explorations play with the overlapping layers of personal and contextual references in tandem with extended sculptural processes that add certain loss of control in their alchemical qualities that help to explore a sense of evocative construction of an image. Through their practice, their interest in metamodernism opens the question of romance and self-consciousness or discursivity in art making and the contradictions in the desire for an expressive practice. In these explorations the modern spirit is evoked as a question and a place of yearning.
